In 2008, the city of Van Wert, Ohio was selected as a second round funding awardee and received an Ohio Job Ready Site grant in the amount of $5,000,000. The City of Van Wert, in collaboration with the Van Wert County Commissioners, the County Port Authority, the Van Wert City Economic Development Office, Community Improvement Corporation and a host of other private and public partners, completed improvements to a 1600 acre site to meet the certification requirements of the Manufacturing category of the Ohio Job Ready Mega Site program.

Located in Northwest Ohio, the Van Wert Ohio Mega Site is a premiere industrial development site in the state of Ohio. The Van Wert Ohio site is strategically located adjacent to U.S. Highway 30, U.S. Highway 127 and U.S. Highway 224. Four lane U.S. Highway 30 provides easy access to four interstate highways: I-75, I-69, I-71 and I-70. This nearly 1,600-acre site allows for easy transportation throughout the state of Ohio and the Midwest.

Electric, gas, water, sewer, fiber optics and rail make this location ideal for any industry looking for a shovel ready site. The City of Van Wert is home to 11,000 people, and is centered in a population area of 550,000 within 35 minutes, offering a skilled and reliable workforce. In addition to three new K-12 schools within Van Wert County, Vantage Career Center is located adjacent to the site and offers high school and adult training in a wide range of technical skills to meet today’s manufacturing needs.

The site redevelopment included rail refurbishing, extension of rail siding, utility extensions and expansion of the water reservoirs. The Van Wert Ohio Mega Site is ready for a large-scale manufacturing facility.
