In 2006, the Ohio Department of Development sought proposals for the first $60 million round of awards and received 63 applications. The Pataskala Corporate Park, located in the City of Pataskala, was selected as a first funding round awardee and received an Ohio Job Ready Site grant in the amount of $3,439,978.

Pataskala is located approximately 20 miles east of downtown Columbus along Interstate 70. Positioned along State Route 16 and U.S. Route 40 as well as Interstate 70, Pataskala has several transportation connections to Central as well as Eastern Ohio. Pataskala is part of the growing Licking County population of 166,000 and is located near the Columbus metropolitan area as well as several smaller communities. The location and transportation access to Pataskala allows its current and future employers to draw from a broad labor shed.

The 300-acre Job Ready Site, part of the 520-acre Pataskala Corporate Park, is located west of downtown Pataskala, along State Route 16. The site has the ability to access a rail line and has quick access to U.S. Route 40 via Etna Parkway. Interstate 70 is two miles south of the site with access via Etna Parkway and State Route 310.

Prior to the Job Ready Site award, challenges at the site were its lack of available infrastructure and utilities and lack of a direct route between Pataskala Corporate Park and Interstate 70. The grant allowed Licking County to make significant improvements to Pataskala Corporate Park, which is optimal for a manufacturing operation with large tracts of land available and utility lines in place. The site is controlled, zoned, and priced at $30,000 per acre. All utilities border the Park boundary or cross Pataskala Corporate Park. The improvements ensure end-users that Pataskala and Licking County can accommodate a quick start-up timeline.

These Job Ready Site grant improvements opened more than 520 acres of currently undeveloped land for industrial development, including a 296-acre parcel and a 224-acre parcel. These properties can be subdivided into 100 to 300-acre properties for development with transportation access from the north, south, and west.
