Ohio Household Water Assistance Program

The Ohio Household Water Assistance Program provides income-eligible Ohioans assistance with their water and sewer utility bills. This is a one-time benefit.

The program has been extended through Sept. 30, 2023.

Funding for the program is provided by the Consolidated Appropriations Act and American Rescue Plan Act.

Who is eligible for the program?

Ohioans who are at or below 175% of the federal poverty guidelines and are disconnected or have a disconnection notice, need to establish new service, or need to pay to transfer service are eligible for the program.

A household is also eligible for assistance if they receive assistance from the Home Energy Assistance Program, Percentage of Income Payment Program, Means-tested Veterans Programs, SSI, SNAP or TANF benefits and can provide documentation of receiving these benefits.

July 2022-September 2022 the income levels are:

7 up to $73,342.50
8 up to $81,602.50

For households with more than eight (8) members, add $8,260 for each additional member.

A household applying for the program must report total gross household income for the past 30 days (12 months preferred) for all members, except wage or salary income earned by dependent minors under 18 years old. Both homeowners and renters are eligible for assistance.
