Regional Economic Development Directors

Marietta Office (Region 11)

Welcome to the website of the Regional Economic Development Director for Southeast Ohio. The southeastern Ohio region is one of twelve unique region's that make up Ohio's diverse economic base. Eight counties comprise this region: Athens, Hocking, Meigs, Monroe, Morgan, Noble, Perry and Washington.

Southeast Ohio was where Ohio's first pioneers settled. The scenic and rugged terrain remains. Interspersed in the rolling hills of southeast Ohio, you will find some of Ohio's oldest communities as well as the oldest university in the Northwest Territory -- the nationally renowned Ohio University. The eight-county region is home to just over a quarter- million people. In southeast Ohio, we learned our work ethic through a heritage of agriculture, mining, and heavy industries in the Ohio River valley. Today in the region, you will find the primary industries that drive the nation's economy, such as power generation, polymers, chemicals, primary metals, and automotive suppliers. Additionally, you will find a collection of small entrepreneurial companies and small high-technology companies that are being spun out of larger industries and academia.

I believe you will find Southeast Ohio affords and excellent quality of life, a collection of impressive companies, and a productive, reliable labor force. I encourage you to further explore all that southeast Ohio has to offer by linking to our  Southeast Ohio Website.
