Regional Economic Development Directors

Dayton Office (Region 4)

Welcome to the Regional Economic Development Director for Southwest Central Ohio website. Our region is the Birthplace of Aviation and the home of Orville and Wilbur Wright...where we taught the world how to fly. We also pride ourselves on being the birthplace of Paul Lawrence Dunbar, National Poet Laureate.

Southwest Central Ohio is a community of collaboratives and partnerships between local, regional, state, government, public/private sector partnerships, chambers of commerce, economic development groups, and businesses and community development officials.

We are fortunate to have a state-of-the-art Job Center in Southwest Central Ohio that can assist businesses in identifying and training employees. The Region also has a premier small business Entrepreneur Center. Our region prides itself on cooperation among its nine urban and rural counties (Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, and Shelby).

Home to a total aquifer storage of approximately 1.5 trillion gallons of groundwater, the Region has a plentiful supply of high quality water that is constantly recharging itself in a sustainable fashion.  It welcomes water-intensive business and industry to share its abundant water resources.

This Southwest Central Region's focus is on information technology, aerospace, automotive, entrepreneur business development, sensor technology, advanced materials, and advanced manufacutring. Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County boasts the largest single site employer in the State of Ohio, which reflects our expertise in the aeronautical field.

Availability of quality industrial land and a well-trained workforce in Southwest Central Ohio are some of the reasons many premier companies such as Honeywell Aerospace and Rittal Corp., Champaign County; Bullen Ultrasonics and Henny Penny Corp., Preble County; Alkermes, Clinton County; Whirlpool, Darke County; Stillwater Technologies and Goodrich, Miami County; Lexis Nexis, Montgomery County; Navistar and Dole Fresh Vegetables, Clark County; and NK Parts, Shelby County, have chosen to locate in this Region.
