Press Room >> 2009 Press Releases TITLE: INTRODUCTION OF THE NEW OHIO FILM OFFICE DIRECTOR In lieu of a traditional press release (you know, the ones that put you to sleep even after a gallon of coffee), the Ohio Film Office decided to try something new. If you read this and still have interest in the traditional press release click here: Below is our press release introducing the new Film Office Director Jeremy Henthorn. Presented in screenplay format. Fade In: Int. Film Office – Day A REPORTER sits in a chair facing an empty desk; an open notebook lays across their lap. Out of old habit, they rapidly click and release their ballpoint pen. The door to the office opens and JEREMY HENTHORN enters. He takes a seat behind the desk. The reporter’s rapidly clicking pen stops, and the pen goes to paper. Maybe we should start by learning a little about who you are.
Well, I recently graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Cinematic Arts. Shortly afterwards, I worked with producers in feature and television script development. Recently, I returned to Ohio in hopes of using some of what I’ve learned to help grow productions in the state.
Why would you do that? Isn’t it easier to find creative work in California than it is here? And, I mean, the weather out there…
This is my home. I was born here and lived here most of my life. I want be the bridge that connects local talent and well-paying film production jobs. More and more productions are relocating from California to the Midwest each year.
Yes, but what makes you so sure that they’ll want to come here?
Because I’ve worked with local filmmakers. I know the high level of talent in the state and I know that Ohioans have the skills that will attract large productions.
And the tax incentive…
The Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit will certainly springboard production, but locations, talent, and strong lines of communication between the office and filmmakers will sustain it.

So what is your first order of business?
Market the tax credit. We need to get productions underway and get our filmmakers to work. We also need to promote our filmmakers and crew. Remember, the more Ohioans a film employs, the better the tax incentive. We will revamp the Web site to create better crew database and location resources. I want the Web site to be the best film office site in the country and with a stronger interactive experience, we can make it a comprehensive resource that will reflect our talented people, our strong incentives, and our beautiful filming locations.
Finally, you are a USC grad…so are you a Buckeye or a Trojan fan?
This interview is over.
