Press Room >> 2009 Press Releases Patt-McDaniel Announces Appointment of Henthorn as Ohio Film Office Director COLUMBUS, Ohio (November 4, 2009) – Lisa Patt-McDaniel, Director of the Ohio Department of Development, today announced the appointment of Jeremy Henthorn as the Director of the Ohio Film Office. Henthorn is responsible for developing strategies to build the film production industry in Ohio, the implementation of the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit program, and strengthening Ohio’s film industry crew base. The Ohio Film Office works in partnership with local film organizations and commissions to market the state to production companies. “Jeremy’s experience working with local filmmakers will be beneficial in supporting the Ohio Film Office’s priorities as we work to grow production and cultivate talent around the state,” said Patt-McDaniel. “We’re excited about the knowledge and expertise Jeremy brings to the Film Office and his dedication to strengthening the state’s film industry.” Prior to joining the Ohio Department of Development, Henthorn worked on the creative side of filmmaking as a writer, director, and editor of numerous short films and public service announcements. He has assisted in location scouting, editing, and production for award winning directors and producers. As a screenwriter, Henthorn worked in creative development on both television pilots and feature length material. In addition, Henthorn assisted in setting up a Times Square screening for the From Here to Awesome Film Festival and his film “Bunny’s Farewell” was an official selection of the Nevada City Film Festival. An Ohio native, Henthorn received the 2007 Edward Small Scholarship for Screenwriting Excellence and was named a 2008 quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Screenwriting Fellowship. “I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to use my motion picture experience and my relationships with Ohio filmmakers to grow a successful and sustainable industry,” said Henthorn. “Ohio has the locations and crew base necessary to attract larger productions and I am committed to assisting local filmmakers in realizing their own visions.” Henthorn holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Otterbein College and a master’s degree in Fine Art from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts.
