Press Room >> 2009 Press Releases FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BARBASH ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT OF FALTER AS NORTHEAST OHIO REGIONAL WORKFORCE DIRECTOR COLUMBUS – Interim Director of the Ohio Department of Development Mark Barbash announced the appointment of Matthew L. Falter as the Regional Workforce Director of the Department’s Northeast Ohio Office. Falter is responsible for directing workforce development efforts for Ashtabula, Mahoning, and Trumbull Counties. He will work in partnership with Arnold Clebone, Regional Economic Development Director, and serve as a liaison to state government, local business leaders, elected officials, and economic and workforce development entities to meet the training and talent development needs of businesses throughout the region. # # # Media contacts: Eileen Turner at (614) 728-6674

“With more than eight years of experience in workforce development, Matthew has extensive knowledge and understanding of workforce needs in Northeast Ohio,” said Barbash. “His background and commitment will bring positive energy to the area as we work to enhance Ohio’s competiveness with innovative programs designed to develop, attract, and retain talent.”
Prior to his appointment, Falter served as a business account representative for the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services One Stop Workforce Center, where he assisted local companies in securing more than $231,000 in workforce training grant funds, and with recruitment, retention, and expansion efforts. He served on the planning committee for the tri-county (Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana) annual Job Expo that attracted thousands of job seekers. Falter also served in several other capacities while at the Trumbull County Department of Job and Family Services including, Workforce Investment Act Employment Specialist, Intake Eligibility Specialist, and Childcare Contract Monitor.
Falter holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Kent State University.
The Workforce and Talent Division provides financial assistance and technical resources for customized training involving employees of new and expanding Ohio businesses. The Division also supports community economic development efforts through job creation and retention.
