“Ohio’s export total for 2008 grew to more than $45 billion, making it the nation’s seventh largest exporting state, ” Barbash said. “Governor Strickland’s Excellence in Exporting Awards recognize the outstanding contributions our business community makes to both Ohio’s economy and markets worldwide.”
Since 1991, more than 400 companies and organizations have received “E” Awards. Winning entries demonstrate outstanding export performance including significant growth of export sales, significant dollar volume of export business, overcoming obstacles or challenges in exporting and support of exporting in Ohio.
“The Governor’s Excellence in Exporting Awards represent our state’s commitment to fostering export growth across industry sectors,” said Deborah Scherer, director of the Global Markets Division at the Ohio Department of Development. “Manufacturing strengths, logistics capabilities, skilled workforce, and a business environment that is the best in the region help Ohio companies produce world-class products with a globally competitive reputation.”
Two Ohio companies will also be recognized with the Small-Medium Business and Large Business “Exporter of the Year” awards. The award is given to companies that exemplify the state’s commitment to international trade.
