Fact Sheet: Lisa Patt-McDaniel
As Director:
- Patt-McDaniel spearheaded the creation of seven Ohio Hubs of Innovation and Opportunity, which are designated areas of a region that leverage resources and investments to attract clusters of connected businesses. They also encourage new investments and an influx of talented workers, and create new opportunities to grow jobs and develop Ohio's key industries.
- Recently, the Dayton Aerospace Hub attracted a new GE Aviation Research and Development Center. Just this month, the Consumer Marketing Hub in Cincinnati attracted Rockfish Interactive with tax credits, bringing 75 new jobs to that area for creative strategists, designers, and interactive marketing specialists.
- Earlier this year, the Ohio third Frontier Commission approved $5 million in funding to support Philips Healthcare's efforts to locate the Philips Healthcare Global Advanced Imagining Innovation Center in Cleveland's Health and Technology Corridor Hub in conjunction with University Hospitals' Case Medical Center.
- Other Ohio Hubs include the Northwest Ohio Solar Energy Innovation Hub, the Biomaterials Commercialization Hub in Akron, the Youngstown Entrepreneurial Hub of Advanced Materials Commercialization and Software Development, and the Central Ohio Hub of Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Energy Storage.

Patt-McDaniel helped make Ohio's Home Weatherization Assistance Program (HWAP) the best in the nation, weatherizing more homes than any other state.
- To date, more than 23,000 homes have been weatherized and more than 1,400 jobs created with assistance from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding.
- Helped Ohio maintain its No. 1 ranking in new and expanded business facility investments, extending Ohio's streak of winning Site Selection's Governor's Cup Award to four consecutive years (2007-2010).
- Helped Ohio win an E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Company manufacturing plant conversion and expansion in Circleville. Due to the longstanding quality of the local workforce at the Circileville DuPont plant, and with assistance from the State of Ohio, the company chose the 450-acre DuPont site for expansion. This site converted existing, out-of-date manufacturing lines to a new technology for producing Tedlar® film, a plastic-like film that is attached to the back of solar panels. The $175 million project is creating 70 jobs in Circleville and helping to maintain 500 additional jobs at the site.
- Established the Ohio Energy Gateway Fund, an initiative partnering one-time state and federal stimulus funds with private investment dollars to leverage increased investment in Ohio's advanced energy technology sector.
- Led a Business Development Trip to China in June 2010, conducting more than 25 business activities and furthering business relationships with companies interested in locating in Ohio.
- Certified five projects for as "Ohio Job Ready Sites," which have a total of more than 870 acres of readily available commercial real estate and 105,572 square feet of building space.
- Administered the Ohio Appliance Rebate Program, one of the largest rebate programs in the country, putting more than $9.2 million in federal dollars in the hands of more than 78,000 Ohioans.
- Oversaw the distribution of nearly $500 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act stimulus funding through a variety of programs, including:
- Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc., which received incentives to assist in the implementation of a $65 million project, creating 500 jobs in Montgomery County.
- ConAgra Foods Packaged Foods, LLC which entered an 18-year partnership with Ohio, creating 191 jobs and retaining 371 positions in the City of Troy, with a total project cost of $59 million.

Is a member of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, which is chaired by Chancellor Eric Fingerhut.
- During her tenure, the Ohio Third Frontier was renewed by voters through a $700 million bond to support technology-based research and start-up companies for another four years.
- Since the program began in 2002, it has created roughly 60,000 direct and indirect jobs, and has generated $6.6 billion in economic development activity in Ohio.

Worked with two other state agencies to realign the state's workforce system to be competitive in the modern, demand-driven economy.
- The Ohio Department of Development is responsible for workforce development relating to businesses;
- The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is responsible for workforce development that assists Ohioans competing in the evolving job market; and
- The Ohio Board of Regents is responsible for workforce development relating to skill development and job training.
- Patt-McDaniel is Chair of, and helped establish, the Interagency Council on Homelessness and Affordable Housing as a step towards ending chronic homelessness in Ohio. The Council provides recommendations and addresses issues of homelessness and housing.
- The Council recently adopted a statewide Permanent Supportive Housing Policy Framework to assist in achieving the goal of creating 6,000 new housing opportunities for Ohioans with severe and persistent disabilities.
