PATT-MCDANIEL ANNOUNCES OHIO BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TRIP TO CHINA

COLUMBUS – Ohio Department of Development Director Lisa Patt-McDaniel today announced plans to lead a delegation of Ohio companies and organizations on an Ohio Business Development Trip to China, from June 21-30, 2010. The trip is an opportunity to explore new investment opportunities by Chinese companies in Ohio.

"China provides vast potential to attract new investment that will create jobs for Ohioans," Patt-McDaniel said.

Foreign direct investment from China to the United States has grown at an average of 30 percent between 2004 and 2008 – one of the fastest growth rates in the world.

The business development trip to China invites participants to help promote Ohio's strengths in the transportation and advanced energy industries. One of the goals of the trip is to help Ohio companies, universities, and research institutions to develop partnerships in China that would increase business opportunities in Ohio.

Those invited to participate include economic development organizations, local governments, corporate and professional service providers, manufacturers and service companies, labor leaders, as well as universities and research institutions.

Ohio companies interested in participating in the trip should contact Randy Hochstetter, Coordinator, Ohio Department of Development Global Markets Division, at (614) 644-6397 or (800) 848-1300, or
