FISHER ANNOUNCES EXPANSION OF TECHNIGRAPHIC SYSTEMS, INC., CREATION OF 150 JOBS IN WOOSTER

Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher today joined the City of Wooster to announce that TechniGraphics, Inc., a data conversion services provider, will expand its headquarters operations in the Wayne County community. The company will invest $6.5 million for the expansion and create 150 jobs over the next three years.
"TechniGraphics is an Ohio technology-based business that is a leader in its industry, utilizing cutting-edge technology to meet the unique needs of federal contractors and companies around the world," said Lt. Governor Fisher, who also serves as Director of the Ohio Department of Development. "TechniGraphics provides the information-based services that are increasingly in demand in the evolving knowledge-based economy. Ohio is committed to growing these businesses that will create jobs to retain and attract the talent that will heighten the State’s high-tech capabilities."
TechniGraphics is headquartered in Wooster and is a multinational corporation that specializes in data capture, data management, and information visualization solutions in the fields of geospatial technology and product lifecycle management. The firm started out in 1982 as Technicolor Graphic Services, a division of the "Color by Technicolor" company. It began working with early Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and has progressed with the maturing industry to become a leader in geospatial technology. The company assists the GIS industry in creating digital maps that utilize satellite and aerial imagery, paper maps, and legal boundaries.
The company's federal customers include the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Department of Homeland Security. Among TechniGraphics' industrial customers are world-renowned names like Bell Helicopter, Boeing, DaimlerChrysler, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Oshkosh Truck. TechniGraphics provides 3-D cad and data management software, implementation, training, support and engineering services to these multinationals.
TechniGraphics will invest $6.5 million to construct a new 30,000 square foot office that will mirror its current facility built in 2005 and will relieve overcrowding. The addition will also contain a corporate education component.
The State of Ohio's investment in TechniGraphics includes a $2 million 166 Direct Loan and a $4,240,000 Ohio Enterprise Bond Fund Loan. The loans were approved by the Development Financing Advisory Council on March 31 and are pending approval by the State Controlling Board. TechniGraphics was also considering Colorado and Michigan for the expansion.
