FISHER AND BROWN PRAISE TECHTRONIC INDUSTRIES' PLAN FOR OHIO OPERATIONS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 30, 2007
Columbus, OH -- Lt. Governor Lee Fisher and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown today praised Techtronic Industries Co., Inc., (TTI) for its commitment to locate TTI Floor Care – the largest floor care business in North America - to its Dirt Devil operation, located in Glenwillow (Cuyahoga County). The company made the announcement as part of its acquisition of Hoover Company of North Canton.
TTI's plan to expand its Glenwillow facility is a major part of the company's plan to increase its research and development capabilities in North America. By establishing its global research and development operation in Ohio, the company expects to add 110 professional positions over the next three years. We appreciate TTI's willingness to work with Hoover employees to thoroughly review the company's operation and create a strong, healthy competitor.
"Hoover is a household name that has been producing quality products for more than 100 years here in Ohio," said Lt. Governor Lee Fisher, who is also the state's development director. "The Strickland-Fisher Administration is committed to investing in the innovative, professional positions that will be created at the existing Dirt Devil facility, as well as working in tandem with TTI to protect the employees at Hoover."
"I am pleased that TTI, Inc. has agreed to closely examine Hoover's capabilities, which are substantial thanks to the skilled men and women who work at the facility," said Senator Brown. "The company's decision to expand operations will bring new jobs to Cuyahoga County, benefiting both the community and TTI. I see this is a starting point in working toward a long-term business partnership between the company and the community."
