CLARK COUNTY RECIEVES $15,000 TO PROMOTE FAIR HOUSING

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 2, 2006

Columbus, OH -- Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson today announced that Clark County will receive a $15,000 grant to assist with fair housing efforts. The funds will be awarded through the Ohio Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance Program, administered by Ohio Department of Development.

“We are pleased to assist Clark County as they continue to work to promote and provide fair housing to those in need in their community,” said Johnson, who also serves as state development director. “Ohio is committed to making certain that fair and affordable housing is available in every community for those in need.”

Clark County will use the funds to conduct a fair housing poster contest and a reading and education program for school-age children; and purchase and distribute various fair housing promotional and educational materials.

The CDBG New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance Program provides local governments with funds to affirmatively advance fair housing opportunities. Affirmative fair housing strategies are designed to address locally assessed needs and commitments, while advancing the state's fair housing goals.
