LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR NAMES GLENDA MASTERSON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE GOVERNOR’S OHIO WORKFORCE POLICY BOARD

Columbus, OH -- Lieutenant Governor Bruce Johnson announced today that Glenda K. Masterson has been named executive director of the Governor’s Ohio Workforce Policy Board. In addition, Masterson will serve as manager of the Office of Workforce Development, within the Ohio Department of Development.

“Glenda’s prior experience in workforce and economic development will make her a great fit in her new roles with the Board and the Department of Development,” said Johnson, who also serves as State Development Director and is a member of the Board. “Glenda is well-qualified to develop and enhance workforce development and training initiatives throughout Ohio.”

In her new role, Masterson will be responsible for managing the functions of the Board, and will serve as liaison to the Governor’s Office on various workforce development initiatives. Masterson will also manage the Ohio Investment in Training Program, and consult with other state agencies and ODOD divisions to ensure that clients receive complete and comprehensive assistance with workforce development needs.

“Glenda will play an integral role in helping the Board fulfill its mission of assessing Ohio’s employment needs and addressing them,” said Donna Alvarado, chair of the Board. “Glenda’s business background and professional experience will help the Board set performance goals and priorities, continuously improve the State’s workforce development system, and assist local leaders to address the most pressing needs of employers and workers in their areas.”

Prior to joining the ODOD, Masterson served as executive director of the Career Alliance for Workforce Development in Clark County and as interim president of the Springfield Chamber of Commerce since November 2002. Masterson also managed the economic development and government affairs programs with Columbia Gas of Ohio from May 1993 to November 2002, and worked in the sales and marketing arenas for IBM Corporation from November 1987 to October 1993.

Masterson holds a Bachelor of Science in business management from Capital University. Masterson resides in Columbus.
