GOVERNOR NAMES EASTERN OHIO BUSINESS REPRESENTATIVE
Arnett To Serve As Taft’s Regional Economic Development Representative

Governor Bob Taft today announced the appointment of William Arnett as the Governor’s Regional Economic Development Representative for the eastern Ohio region.
“Bill possesses the necessary skills to effectively enrich the business climate in eastern Ohio,†Taft said. “I’m confident his strong economic development background, coupled with his understanding of state and local programs will assist the region in its business growth and expansion efforts.â€
Arnett will be responsible for directing economic development efforts and establishing an agenda for continued growth for Holmes, Coshocton, Muskingum, Tuscarawas, Guernsey, Carroll, Harrison, Columbiana, Jefferson and Belmont counties. He will also act as a liaison between state government, local business leaders, elected officials and economic development groups, allocating government resources to meet business challenges. Additionally, Arnett will monitor the productivity and effectiveness of the Ohio Department of Development’s programs in the region.
Arnett most recently served as station manager for a Zanesville radio station. He also has more than eight years experience with chambers of commerce and local development organizations in Muskingum and Athens Counties, where he gained experience in the areas of economic development, business development and government/community relations. Arnett has spent a significant amount of time developing and implementing marketing programs and member services to attract new businesses and encourage retention and expansion of existing firms.
Arnett begins his new duties on February 22. He replaces William Gotschall, who will retire on February 1.
