STATE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES $300,000 IN WORKFORCE TRAINING FUNDS TO HONDA

Columbus, OH -- State Development Director Bruce Johnson today joined representatives of Honda of America Manufacturing for its announcement of a new, state-of-the-art paint facility at the company’s Marysville plant.

The State of Ohio, through the Ohio Department of Development, is offering Honda a $300,000 Ohio Investment in Training Program grant to assist in training approximately 250 associates who will use the new equipment. The 234,000 square-foot paint facility will allow Honda’s Marysville plant significant flexibility to produce a variety of vehicle models.

“Honda’s continued growth and investment in its Ohio facilities is commendable,” Director Johnson said. “The State of Ohio is pleased to partner with Honda in providing assistance that will help train Honda associates who will be using this exciting new technology.”

Honda is the world’s largest engine maker, selling more than 10 million engines each year for automotive, motorcycle, marine and power equipment applications. Honda is Ohio’s 15th largest employer, providing jobs to more than 13,000 people statewide. Additionally, the company purchases $3.8 billion in parts, materials and services from 175 Ohio suppliers.

The Ohio Department of Development works with communities and businesses in promoting economic opportunities to improve the profits and prosperity of Ohio's citizens.
