GOVERNOR NAMES RENAUD AS AEROSPACE AND DEFENSE ADVISOR

Governor Bob Taft has announced the appointment of Joseph M. Renaud as the state Aerospace and Defense Advisor. Renaud will lead the Ohio Aerospace and Defense Advisory Council, advising Taft on issues relating to those industries. Renaud began his duties on March 1.
"We must continue to aggressively grow Ohio's aerospace and defense industries," Taft said. "With his practical knowledge of the industry and his proven leadership skills, Joe is the right person to take our efforts to the next level."
Renaud will help guide efforts to build upon Ohio’s rich history in aerospace and defense including expanding business opportunities within those industries, including:
maintaining interaction and building collaborative efforts between federal aerospace & defense facilities,
working closely with distinguished leaders, such as Dayton’s Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Cleveland’s NASA Glenn Research Center, and Cincinnati’s GE Aircraft Engine Group,
coordinating the state’s efforts to help local communities prepare for the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure process, and
working with the Preeminent Propulsion 21 program to accelerate the production of the next generation core engine turbine.
Renaud previously worked for Wyle Laboratories, where he held positions as a director of operations and as a senior management consultant. Prior to that, he worked for Owens Corning, first as an operations manager, then as leader of engineering and quality. A command pilot, Renaud most recently served as Commander for the Aerospace Guidance & Metrology Center. He served 17 years in the Air Force Material Command and its predecessor commands, while serving 27 years as an officer in the United States Air Force.
Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Renaud received a Bachelor of Science degree in general engineering from the United States Air Force Academy in 1970, an MSEE from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1978, and an MBA from the University of Utah in 1979. He completed Squadron Officer’s School in 1975, Industrial College of the Armed Forces in 1985 and Air War College in 1990. Renaud is married and has a daughter and two sons.
