STATE DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR ANNOUNCES THAT TRUMBULL COUNTY WILL RECEIVE GRANT TO ASSIST IN FAIR HOUSING EFFORTS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 8, 2004

Columbus, OH -- State Development Director Bruce Johnson today announced that Trumbull County will receive a $15,000 grant to assist with fair housing efforts.

"This grant will help Trumbull County educate the public about fair housing laws and regulations," said Johnson. "Equal access to decent, affordable housing promotes healthy communities."

The funds will be awarded through the Ohio Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) New Horizons Fair Housing Assistance Program, administered by the Ohio Department of Development's Office of Housing and Community Partnerships.

The County will use the funds to raise public awareness about equal housing opportunities through education, outreach and marketing activities, including the development and broadcast of radio advertisements to celebrate National Fair Housing Month in April.

The CDBG New Horizons Fair Housing Program provides local governments with funds to affirmatively advance fair housing opportunities. Affirmative fair housing strategies are designed to address locally assessed needs and commitments while advancing the state's fair housing goals.
