Minority Business Assistance Centers (MBAC)

The Minority Business Assistance Centers provide a variety of business development services to new and existing business owners. Each Minority Business Assistance Center is staffed with certified business counselors that assist minority entrepreneurs with loan and bond packaging services, management, technical, financial and contract procurement assistance. Minority Business Assistance Centers are located throughout Ohio in the following cities: Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Lima, Warren, Lorain and Toledo. Minority Business Assistance Centers provide minority firms with the following services:

  • Accounting assistance
  • Loan packaging assistance
  • Marketing plan development
  • Estimating/Bidding assistance
  • Contract procurement assistance
  • Business management counseling
  • Accessing various state and local government programs
  • Completing federal, state and local certification applications
  • Identifying local resources
  • Referrals to financial assistance programs
  • Providing access to a Plan/Bid room, which includes on-line Dodge Reports.

The services offered by the MBAC offices are provided to new and existing business owners free of charge. 

MBAC Mission

To provide direct professional services that contribute to the growth and stability of Ohio's underutilized businesses.

Eligibility

Existing and start-up minority business enterprises. Minority business enterprises are defined as businesses that are at least 51 percent or more owned and controlled by one of the following disadvantaged groups: African American, Hispanic, Native American and Asian.
