The Ohio Venture Capital Program was created in April 2003. Though creation of the Ohio Capital Fund, a $150 million fund-of-funds, the program is intended to increase the amount of private investment capital available for early-stage or established Ohio-based business enterprises. Program funding assists companies who need initial, early-stage, or development resources to develop new methods or technologies. The goal the program is to increase employment, create additional wealth, and benefit the overall economic welfare of the people of Ohio.
The Ohio Venture Capital Authority provides oversight of the program and consists of three members appointed by the Governor, one selected from a list of three nominees provided by the President of the Senate, and one selected from a list of three nominees provided by the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The Director of Development and Tax Commissioner serve as advisors. For more information on the Ohio Capital Fund, visit www.theohiocapitalfund.com.
