The Ohio Department of Development's Global Markets Division, in conjunction with the Association of Ohio Commodores, held the 2nd Annual Ohio Global Summit on Wednesday, August 26, at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. The full-day program covered topics on global trade opportunities, regulations and logistics, as well as keys to successful strategies for foreign direct investment attraction.
This year, the annual Governor's Excellence in Exporting Awards ceremony was held during the Summit luncheon. Governor Ted Strickland honored 27 Ohio-based companies and organizations that have achieved international success with the prestigious E-Award. The ceremony featured the Exporters of the Year Award given to Ludlow Composites Corporation as the Small-Medium Business Exporter of the Year; and to The Gorman-Rupp Company as the Large Business Exporter of the Year. The Exporter of the Year award exemplifies the State's commitment to international trade.
Kerry Clark, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cardinal Health, was the luncheon keynote speaker.
A Networking Reception concluded the Global Summit with remarks given by Louise Hughes of Procter & Gamble and Bruce Brogan of the Eastern Michigan District Export Council.
More than 250 attendees participated in the Global Summit and had the opportunity to hear from country and industry experts on a variety of subjects that impact today's exporters. The event also afforded attendees access to key regional economic development professionals that specialize in foreign direct investment strategies.
